When we show kindness and compassion to others, we can remind them that God is with them and will never leave their side. When we come together and share our struggles within the body of believers, we can bring peace and hope into each other’s lives. We can use this phrase as a reminder that we are all connected by our shared faith in God and the love of Jesus. Bring Peace To OthersĪdditionally, “peace be with you” can also be used to bring peace and comfort to others. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” This verse reminds us that no matter how scared or overwhelmed we are feeling, we can always turn to God for peace and comfort. In John 14:27, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you my peace I give to you. Hebrews 10:36 tells us, “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” This verse reminds us that even if we experience times of trial and tribulation, we can always turn to God to find peace and hope. This verse reminds us that He is with us and will never leave our side. No matter how difficult life gets, we can always turn to God and find peace in Him. Peace be with you also serves as an encouragement to persevere. Our individual strengths and abilities are often limited, but when we place our faith and trust in God, He provides us with the strength and courage we need to press on even when things seem difficult. We must rely on Him to provide us with the strength and courage needed to move forward even when everything around us seems chaotic. In Isaiah 26:3, it states, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” This shows us that true and lasting peace can only be found when we trust in God. Rather, it is something that comes from God and is only accessible through faith in Him. In Psalm 29:11, it states, “The Lord gives strength to his people the Lord blesses them with peace.” This shows that peace is not something that we can find on our own. This phrase reminds us that we are never alone God is always with us and can give us peace in the midst of our worries. The phrase “peace be with you” is important because it highlights the fact that, despite all of our struggles and challenges, we can still find peace in Jesus Christ. But through Jesus’ perfect sacrifice, we now have access to a peace that can only come from God. Before Jesus, the only way to obtain forgiveness and reconciliation with God was through the Old Testament sacrificial laws, which still left us under condemnation and guilt due to our sinful nature. We can have peace with God through Jesus in a way that was not possible before His death on the cross. Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jesus provided us with a way to be reconciled to God and to receive the gift of salvation. Through Jesus’ death on the cross, we ultimately have peace with God. Why Does “Peace Be With You” Matter? We Have Peace With God Through this phrase, Jesus is providing assurance to his disciples that they can be at peace spiritually even in the midst of difficult circumstances. This is not just temporary emotional peace, but a lasting spiritual connection between them and God. The second, deeper meaning behind the phrase is that Jesus is imparting eternal spiritual peace on them. By telling them “peace be with you,” Jesus was comforting them and restoring their peace of mind. Their hearts were most likely in turmoil within them. When the news came to them that Jesus had risen from the dead, they probably didn’t know what to think. They were, understandably, very upset after his arrest and crucifixion. First, Jesus is telling them to be at ease in their hearts. The meaning of “peace be with you” is that Jesus is imparting his peace on the disciples. This phrase can be translated as “My peace be with you” or “Peace I leave with you.” In this verse, Jesus appears to his disciples after his resurrection and says “Peace be with you.” The original Greek phrase used in the Bible is eir?n? mou meta hym?n. The phrase “peace be with you” comes from the Bible verse John 20:19.
